THE HERO MARRIES A GIRL HE HAS IMPREGNATED AND FOR A BRIEF PERIOD THEY ARE HAPPY TOGETHER. EXTERNAL PRESSURES SUCH AS JOB, MONEY, ETC., DRIVE THEM APART. THE APPEARANCE OF JACKIE, A VERY MASCULINE WOMAN FROM THE WIFE'S PAST, SENDS THEM INTO A DOWNWARD SPIRAL WHICH ENDS WITH THE WIFE'S SUICIDE. THE ODD PART IS THAT THE HUSBAND CLAIMS HE HAS MURDERED HIS WIFE IN ORDER TO EXONERATE JACKIE, HIS LESBIAN RIVAL. ALSO UNUSUAL IN THIS TYPE OF STORY IS THAT JACKIE IS PRESENTED AS THE ONLY MORAL AND UPRIGHT MEMBER OF THE CAST.
